What is Best of Opry? As Director, I have been at all the shows, performing as
well as Directing, and I’ve listened to the singers and Audience members’
reactions each week. I then compile a list of the best song each Artist
performed this season and that is the song they perform Closing weekend. We
add in the best of our comedy team and spice it all up with the Opry Dancers.
We’ve had many show-stoppers this year.
As a matter of fact, we have had a
tremendous run! The Band led by Dave Ford, has been the icing on the cake. The
Opry Band, besides Dave, are Doug Jones, Dwain Rayburn, Bill Berrian and
newcomer Danny Richardson. What a bunch of great musicians and great guys!
Dan Keller nearly stopped the show with his “Mack the Knife”, and then there’s
the tornado who swooped down on the stage, Cecilia Loforti-Mueller. What an
energetic bundle of talent on that harp.
And those kids! Those kids who can
belt a song like nobody’s business. Kelly Coolen, Alyssa Birrer, Abby Collings,
Clint Guevara, Hannah Kintner, and Kelly Coolen will each be singing their
best song.
Have you ever seen such a group of talented dancers? Choreographer Lauri Todd
and Assistants Amy Woods and Koral Aakre along with Sara and Alyssa Birrer,
Quinlyn and Camille Deming, Julia Ingersoll and Anna Brecheisen will dance
their sox off, literally, during the show, along with the “Littlest” dancers;
Cora, Alysen, Autumn and Amie who will perform as well, between raucous jokes
directed by our Comedy Director Jill Hanson.
The “Old” folks; Frank McCracken, Tara Thompson, Tom Barnett, Ron Nance,
Colleen James, Janet Lunstroth, Doris Smith, Leatha Gonzales, Ray Silvia,
Catherine Rowe and I will all perform our best, and then there’s the “New”
folks. I’ll bet you thought I meant “aged” back there. The people “new” to the
show this year; Clint’s mom Shelly Guevara, Jill Hayner-Thompson, Misty
Speakman, Roger Sims, Fred Larsen, and those Darling little girls, Cora and
Alysen, will reprise their best songs. You won’t want to miss this show.
